How to join a Garden Club

Want to join a Garden Club?

Over 60 clubs throughout the province are members of the Nova Scotia Association of Garden Clubs (NSAGC). If you are interested in joining one of these garden clubs, please check the map of Nova Scotia to locate clubs in your region. Feel free to contact clubs for additional information.

What do Clubs do?

Clubs usually meet once a month and host special events and activities such as garden tours, plant sales and seed exchanges. Clubs often feature subject expert guest speakers and hold workshops. Club members may also become involved in beautifying public places in their communities by planting and maintaining flower gardens, putting up seasonal decorations and even growing community vegetable plots so the produce can be enjoyed by people without gardens of their own.

Why join a garden club?

Garden clubs provide a comfortable environment to meet people who are drawn together by a common interest—gardening.

Clubs provide camaraderie, fun activities, learning opportunities and chances to contribute to the community. Members enjoy socializing and often form lasting friendships with other club members.

Gardeners tend to be generous, often dividing their perennials and sharing seeds and houseplant cuttings with other gardeners.

NSAGC Clubs also provide:

  • Insurance coverage benefits (3rd party liability $2 million)
  • Quarterly newsletters with:
    • Reports from garden clubs throughout the province
    • Information on events and activities
    • Articles of interest to gardeners in Nova Scotia
  • Reduced fee to attend the annual NSAGC Convention
  • Local nursery and garden retail discounts
  • Free plant each year
  • Opportunities to become involved not only in local clubs but also at the provincial level as a regional Director or member of the Association Executive

How to join NSAGC

If your garden club resides in Nova Scotia and wishes to become a member of the Nova Scotia Association of Garden Clubs (NSAGC), please contact us and provide the following information:

  • Name of your club
  • Number of members
  • President's & secretary's name, address, phone number and e-mail
  • Communications contact's name and e-mail

Your club will be contacted by the NSAGC President who will advise you on where to mail your membership form and fee. The fee payable to the Nova Scotia Association of Garden Clubs is $5.00 for each member in your club and fees are due by March 1st of each year.
