District 4 Halifax: The Dartmouth Horticultural Society will hold its monthly meeting in Multi Purpose Room B at the East Dartmouth Community Centre, 50 Caledonia Road, Dartmouth on Monday March 9th at 7:00 p.m. The speaker will be Lisa McNeil who will give a presentation on Indoor House Plants. Indoor House Plants: During her presentation, Lisa will touch on watering, light, plant food, repotting and pest control. She will also share her favourite plants, tips and tricks for season change and when you must travel. Lisa McNeil is a self-taught entrepreneur and she is the crafty hands behind HANGS, a maritime crafter company. Her love for house plants (over 136) brought her to design attractive macramé plant hangers for the ones who want to bring out their plant’s beauty or simply create space for more. In addition to @hangs.hfx, Lisa is a Registered Massage Therapist practicing Part-time in Halifax, a Paramedic and a Crossfit & Mobility Coach @crossfitironstone.
District 5 Valley: Valley Gardeners Club - 7:30 p.m., March 9, NSCC Kingstec, 236 Belcher St., Kentville. The guest will be Andrea Garrett, Residential Coordinator at Valley Waste Resource Management, who will speak on Composting – What’s In, What’s Out. The presentation will cover both backyard and municipal composting and troubleshooting common problems with both. It will also include a VERY IMPORTANT update about new garbage days in the Valley starting March 31, 2020! Everyone is welcome.District 6 South Shore: No events planned at this time.
